    POMPADOUR

The Home Decoration Retailers’Association announced the winners of the prestigious HDRA Awards, at Autumn Fair 2009.

The HDRA Awards reflect the views of both independent retailers and suppliers within the home décor, furnishings and interiors market, recognising and rewarding excellence in the market.

Osborne & Little are delighted to have won HDRA BEST WALLPAPER COLLECTION for Pompadour Wallpapers.

HDRA said: "There are obviously some very strong wallpaper collections in the market currently and the nominees in this category covered a broad spectrum of differing tastes – with exceptionally high priced collections vying with more modestly priced ones.  Which proves that the HDRA members offer their customers wonderfully varied collections and choices covering all aspects of style and cost.  Our winning collection for 2009 comes from a company who is one of the world’s leading names in both fabric and wallpaper design.  For four decades their designs have been at the heart of interior trends, from the paint effects of the 80s, the celestial motifs of the 90s to today where they are leading the way in the resurgence of metallics and flocks.  The winning collection for 2009 is Pompadour by Osborne & Little which was launched in Spring this year and is obviously wowing everyone with its beautiful designs inspired by a bygone era of the court of Louis XV’s court and his most famous mistress Madame de Pompadour."

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that voted for the Pompadour Wallpaper collection.

  • SARISKAR WALLPAPERS BY HENRY WILSON

    COLLAGE

OSBORNE & LITTLE has commissioned the celebrated photographer, artist and Indian expert to design a collection of wallpapers, SARISKAR

Henry Wilson’s new SARISKAR collection of wallpapers for Osborne & Little distils the colours and patterns of historic India for today’s mood. For some five centuries of India’s relationship with the West, the imagery of the subcontinent has been a source of colour and movement through the classic paisleys, chintzes, block prints and ‘Tree of Life’ patterns. Indeed, decoration and surface ornamentation are hard-wired into the Indian design psyche – they are omnipresent in India, whether on the street, on its exquisite archaeological monuments or in its world-famous forts and royal palaces. ‘Such is the rich combination of wall and architectural detail and soaring architecture, it can be overwhelming, much of the fine detail easily overlooked among the kaleidoscope of pattern and colour. It is these frequently missed decorative details that I have drawn upon for my designs.’

Henry Wilson has been a regular visitor to India for more than 30 years, travelling throughout the whole country as he explored its culture and photographed its life. He has especially taken time to discover the many facets of Rajasthan and Gujarat (as the names of the patterns in the collection would suggest). Through intimate knowledge of these aspects of historic India, he has become passionate about the wealth of visual stimulation to be found there, and now has sensitively adapted and refined predominantly the floral themes of this rich tradition for today’s world. At a time when India is so much in the ascendant, and Western interest has been reawakened in India’s vibrant creative culture, the Sariskar collection brings together in a unique way the historic and the exotic with the contemporary.
